What is Foundations?

Start here. Build something that actually lasts.

Foundations is not a theology class. It is not a sermon series. It is a structured, 100-day discipleship program that shows you how to build a real, daily relationship with Jesus.

Most people who want to grow in their faith hit the same wall: they know they should read the Bible and pray, but nobody has ever actually shown them how to make it a habit. Foundations fixes that. You will learn how to study the Bible on your own, how to journal what God is speaking to you, and how to stay consistent over 100 days with a group of people doing it alongside you.

This is Path 1 of 4 in Bridge 938. It is where everyone starts. Before leadership training, before ministry credentials, before anything else – you need a foundation. This is it.

“Foundations is a structured discipleship program that focuses on learning to walk with Jesus. For 100 days, you will attend a weekly class, learn how to study the Bible, journal and participate in weekly discussions.” – Bridge 938 Student Manual

Who it’s for

This was built for you if…

You do not need to know anything about the Bible or ministry to start Foundations. You just need to want more in your relationship with Jesus.

You are new to faith

You recently started following Jesus – or you are exploring what that even means – and you want someone to show you what a real daily relationship with God looks like.

You have been a Christian but feel stuck

You have been attending church for years but if you are honest, you do not really have a daily habit with Jesus. You have never had anyone show you the how – just told you that you should.

You want community and accountability

You know you grow better when people are doing it with you. Foundations gives you a group of people going through the same 100 days at the same time, meeting together, talking honestly.

You feel God pulling you toward more

Something inside you is telling you there is more to this than Sunday mornings. You cannot explain it but you want to go deeper. Foundations is where you find out what that means.

You want to serve or lead at your church

You are already serving in some capacity but you want a stronger personal foundation under what you do. Every other Bridge 938 path starts here for a reason.

You want to go further in Bridge 938

If your goal is Leadership Training, the Paul to Timothy Institute, or Vocational Ministry – Foundations is where you start. It is the foundation every other path is built on.

Not sure if Foundations is the right starting point for you? That is completely normal. Answer three questions and we will tell you exactly which path fits where you are right now.

What you will actually do

Here is exactly what Foundations looks like.

No vague promises. Here is what your days and months look like from day one to day 100.

Every day

Bible reading and journaling

Each day you will read a designated passage of Scripture and write in your journal. This is not a homework assignment – it is building the habit of hearing from God daily. Most people spend 15 to 20 minutes on this. The structure is provided for you. You just show up and do it.

Twice a month

In-person class at Bridge Helena

Twice each month you will meet in person with your Foundations group at Bridge Helena. These classes teach you how to study the Bible, how to understand what you are reading, and how to apply it to your actual life. You will learn alongside other people who are in the same place you are.

Weekly

Group discussion

Every week you will have a discussion with your group about what you have been reading and journaling. This is where what you are learning gets talked about honestly – the questions, the things you do not understand, the things that are actually hitting home. This is where community gets built.

Throughout

Attend Bridge Helena Sunday services

Part of Foundations is being planted in a local church. You are expected to attend Bridge Helena Sunday services regularly. What you are learning in Foundations should connect to what you are hearing and living on Sundays. Church is not separate from the program – it is part of it.

What you walk away with

At day 100, here is what you have.

Not a certificate. Not a grade. Something better – actual habits and a real relationship with Jesus that you built yourself.

01

A daily Bible study habit you own

You will have read Scripture and journaled every day for 100 days. That is not nothing. That is a real habit – one that most believers spend years trying to build. You will know how to do it and you will have done it.

02

A journal with 100 days of entries

You will have a physical record of what God spoke to you, what you wrestled with, and how you grew. This is something you will look back on for the rest of your life.

03

People who know you and walked with you

The community you build in 100 days of doing something hard together is real. These are not just people you sat in a room with – they are people who know where you started and watched you grow.

04

The foundation every other path builds on

If you want to continue into Leadership Training, Paul to Timothy Institute, or Vocational Ministry – this is where it all starts. Every next step gets easier when the foundation under it is solid.

The goal of Foundations is not to teach you about Jesus. It is to help you build a relationship with Him that holds – through good seasons and hard ones, through questions and certainty, through the rest of your life.

What is expected of you

Be honest with yourself about this.

Bridge 938 takes Foundations seriously. These are the expectations placed on every student. They are not meant to be a burden – they are what make the program actually work.

Attend Bridge Helena Sunday services regularly. Church is not optional – it is part of the program.

Serve somewhere in the church. Even one hour a week of showing up and helping matters.

Develop an active prayer life with a commitment to journaling. This is the core of what you are building.

Read the Bible and study it daily. 15 minutes a day. The structure is there – you just have to show up.

Respect deadlines and show up on time. Your group is counting on you. So are your leaders.

Communicate openly. If you are struggling, say so. If something is not working, say so. Nobody here is grading you on perfection.

An honest note from Bridge 938

Foundations is not a passive program. You will get out of it exactly what you put into it. If you show up to the classes but skip the daily reading, you will not get the results. If you do the reading but disengage from your group, you will miss the community.

The 100 days will pass whether you do this or not. The question is whether you are going to use them to build something real. Bridge 938 will invest everything into you – we just need you to show up and do the work.

If you are not in a place where you can commit to this right now, that is okay. Come back when you are ready. But if you are ready – this is worth it.

Common questions

Questions people ask before starting.

Straight answers. No runaround.

How long is Foundations?

100 days from your start date. It is a fixed-length program with a clear beginning and a clear end. You know exactly when you start and exactly when you finish.

How many times do I have to come in person?

Twice a month for in-person classes at Bridge Helena. Plus weekly group discussion, which may be in person or with your group. The daily work – Bible reading and journaling – you do on your own at home.

Do I need to know anything about the Bible first?

No. Foundations was specifically designed for people who are starting from scratch or who feel like they should know more than they do. You will be taught how to read and study the Bible as part of the program itself.

Do I have to be a member of Bridge Helena?

You need to be attending Bridge Helena regularly. Foundations is a Bridge Helena program and Sunday service is part of the expectation. If you are not currently attending, start there first and then reach out about enrolling.

What does Foundations cost?

Contact Bridge 938 directly for current pricing information. Bridge 938 is committed to making this financially accessible – financial assistance options including sponsorships and scholarships are available for those who need it.

What happens after I finish Foundations?

You have built your foundation. From there you can continue into Path 2 – Leadership Training, Path 3 – Paul to Timothy Institute, or Path 4 – Vocational Ministry. Or you simply live out what you built. That is also a win.

What if I live outside of Helena?

If you do not live in the Helena area, Bridge 938 will work with you to provide lodging for your in-person class days. Reach out before applying so we can make a plan together.

Is there a lot of homework?

The daily commitment is Bible reading and journaling – most people spend 15 to 20 minutes on this. It is not a heavy academic load. What it requires is consistency, not volume. You show up every day for 100 days and do a small, meaningful thing. That is the whole point.
